Middle School Girls basketball game for Thursday, November 14th in Denver City has been moved to Saturday, November 16th in Denver City. 7th Grade A Team and 8th Grade B Team will play at 9:00am 8th Grade A Team will play at 10:00am Denver City does not have a 7th Grade B Team, so no 7th Grade B Team Game.

8th Grade Parents-- This is a reminder that all 8th graders will be taking the PreACT tomorrow (Oct. 24) beginning in 2nd period. This test will conclude by lunch time. Please help ensure your student goes to bed on-time, eats a good breakfast, and is at school tomorrow. If a student leaves the testing room after testing begins, their test will be invalidated. The results and career information will be provided to you later in the year.

October 21-25, 2024, is National School Bus Safety Week! As we recognize this important week, here’s a key safety reminder: In Texas, when a school bus extends its stop sign, drivers must come to a complete stop and remain stopped until the bus has moved, the flashing lights are no longer active, or the bus driver signals that it’s safe to proceed. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) urges all drivers to slow down and stay vigilant in school zones and around school buses in their communities. Drive safely!

Wednesday, October 16, 2024, is a 1:00 dismissal . Buses will run then and students need to be picked up at 1:00.

As we wrap up Fentanyl Awareness Week, today's tip is for the parents: Whether you want to inform your child of the risks or are concerned about a loved one who uses drugs, it's time to talk about fentanyl. Have a calm, direct conversation, and listen without judgment. Work together to make a plan to stay safe. Naloxone is a medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids, including fentanyl. Keeping it on hand could mean the difference between life and death — for you or someone else. Naloxone is available at many pharmacies in Texas without a prescription.

Thursday's Fentanyl Awareness tip explains what youth and young adults need to know... Many fake pills are made to look just like prescription Xanax (bars), Percocet (perk), opioids (painkillers) like Vicodin and Oxycodone (oxy), and stimulants like Adderall (addy). These fake pills are increasingly common, and fentanyl may be mixed into them. Even in small doses, fentanyl can be deadly. Be prepared to save a life. Learn the signs of a fentanyl poisoning and speak with your doctor or pharmacist about obtaining naloxone to carry and keep at home.

Today's tip for Fentanyl Awareness are the signs to watch for: -Small, constricted "pinpoint pupils" -Face is extremely pale and/or feels cold or clammy to the touch -Body goes limp -Fingernails or lips have a purple or blue color -Vomiting or making gurgling noises -Cannot be awakened or unable to speak -Breathing or heartbeat slows or stops

This week is Fentanyl Awareness Week!! What is Fentanyl? Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is 50-100 times stronger than morphine. Just 2 milligrams of fentanyl, equal to 10 to 15 grains of table salt, is considered a lethal dose. Illegally manufactured fentanyl is found in heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and in counterfeit pills. As a result, many people may not know they're ingesting fentanyl, leading to an accidental poisoning.
